Campaign Headquarters is located in Brooklyn, Iowa, population 1,367. For those of you who have hit the Presidential campaign trail in Iowa, we’re 66 miles east of Des Moines and 45 miles west of Iowa City, just two miles north of Interstate 80 at mile marker 197.
If you’re wondering why on earth one of the country’s best conservative call centers is headquartered in such a remote outpost, you’re not alone. Here’s the story. It’s a true American tale of love, Republican politics, and telephones.
In 1996, Nicole moved from New York to Iowa to serve as the Finance Director for Mike Mahaffey for Congress. The late Junie Manatt offered to host a fundraiser for the Mahaffey campaign. Nicole was given a copy of the Brooklyn phone book with the names and numbers of prospective host committee members highlighted. After calling for several hours with no results, she called Eric Lang. After a brief (but very nice) conversation, Eric agreed to contribute $100 and offered to drop off the contribution at the campaign headquarters the next day. Two years and two months later, they were married. Two months after that, Capitol Resources, Inc. (now Campaign HQ) was founded.
As luck would have it, Brooklyn is the perfect location for our company, and enables us to provide you a service like none other. As the largest customer of the post office, and one of the larger customers of the Brooklyn Telecommunications, when our team needs help, this town springs into action. From a labor market perspective, Brooklyn and nearby Grinnell were both once home to telemarketing companies which have gone out of business, providing us a steady stream of highly qualified campaign representatives.
